Firenze From May through June takes place the Florence Maggio Musicale, based at Teatro Comunale, the event is composed of a series of internationally acclaimed classical music concerts and recitals, opera and ballet in venues across the city, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino celebrates its 75th anniversary with Zubin Mehta like chief conductor. The event takes place in Florence's Piazza Santa Croce, where the piazza is transformed into a playing field with a thick layer of sand under the players and bleacher-style stands for onlookers. At the end of the day the event is followed by " fochi" (fireworks) over Piazzale Michelangelo. Livorno reveals its history through its districts characterised by the Medicean canals, which are still navigable, like the charming Venezia quarter filled with canals, islands and bridges, many from the 17th century, in this renaissance scenery takes place the festival Effetto Venezia, the event includes many initiatives which animate the quarter: stalls of artisans and collectors, street performers, acrobats, exhibits and charming boat rides in the canals. Last but not least...Siena, one of most famous italian art cities for its monuments. Siena is a very interesting city to visit, it is characterized by "Palio di Siena" , the most important event of the year, two traditional horse's races, the first held on July 2nd and the second on August 16th, both events take place at Piazza del Campo in the heart of the historic centre of Siena. Competitors from the 17 districts, called "contrade", of the town. Each Contrada has its own unique emblem and colors and represents an area of the city.The first horse that crosses the finish line, even if he arrives without his jockey, wins the race.
